Rajasthan

The mosh pit at a foo fighters gig, that is a good comparison for the streets of Delhi, manic would be a gross understatement. Sometimes it was difficult to even find the elbow room to get my camera out of the bag.

Thankfully I did, as Delhi and her population are a photographer's paradise, it was from here I started my journey that would finish in the more remote villages and harsh deserts of Rajasthan.

As I travelled south west towards the India/Pakistan border the colour slowly drained out of the landscape, yet the people were more vibrant here, in the way they dressed and in their passion for all things Indian.

Traditions are strong in rural India and it is not difficult to lose yourself in the fabric that makes up the day to day lives of the villagers here. Life is harder and it reflects in peoples faces, yet I found them more visually appealing, warmer and approachable.

The images to follow are a snapshot of what I saw in Rajasthan, but I have a feeling that in a region so rich in everything I love about photography maybe I missed more than I care to imagine.

Don't drink the water!
